Film and Digital Television

Digital distribution and production effected film and television culture by giving consumers affordable prescriptions based memberships and exclusive content. Online prescriptions give consumers the conveniences of watching there favorite shows at anytime; uninterrupted. Cable follows the same format; people schedules are different and often have to work longer hours. Exclusive content keeps consumers consistent, familiar and brings new consumers. Having good exclusive content can create word of mouth promotions. Digital media being more affordable takes the control that the cable companies have over consumers. Cable Companies have contracts with various private contractors to only allow their company to operate in certain areas. The result is high prices, poor services and no competition.

Streaming movies is more convenient. I don’t believe movies are failing because watching movies on your tablet, laptop and phone is beneficial. “Since the launch of Apple TV in 2006, companies have introduced a string of over-the-top (OTT) streaming Internet video devices such as Roku, Chromecast, PlayStation, Xbox, etc.” while riding the training, I often see people watching movies on their tablet while riding the train. Some people don’t want to go to the movies theaters because its overpriced and crowded. I remember when Straight out of Compton premiered in the movies theaters and I did not want to go because the news reported extra police would be site. I first learned about streaming movies was when I was working an overnight job. At the job I would bring my laptop and watch movies to keep me awoke. I would watch new and old movies on Roklulu.com.

I enjoy 3D effects, if used in the right way they can be impactful. One of my little cousin’s favorite movies is Toy Story in 3D. I plan to go to the screening of the new Superman vs. Batman movie that will be in 3D.

  1. I agree streaming is much more convenient than television. I also believe film is not failing, and there needs to be more modernization and adaptation of new forms of distribution. I also feel there is an over saturation of films and television shows, so there are more chances of a bad product being put out on the market.
